Blessings!
Today’s Promise is 1 Peter 4:1, 2 NKJV:
“Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.”
Devotion:
Christ did not suffer all that He did so we could continue living to fulfill our selfish desires and protect our fragile egos. Every strike of the whip, every mouthful of spit in His face, every puncture wound, every curse hurled at Him, He received willingly. That you and I could stand up to Satan and declare, “NO! You don’t own me anymore! I choose to no longer harm myself, or anyone else! I choose to live in the Light! I choose to love!” From His fasting and prayer during His life, to everything He suffered on the day of His crucifixion, Jesus showed us the way to holiness, denying His flesh that He might glorify the Father. And He gave us His Spirit to help us endure suffering as we, too, deny our flesh, fasting, praying, and walking humbly before God and man, bringing glory to God as we do. We owe Him no less.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, let me never take the sacrifice of Your precious Son for granted. Help me live the life He died to give me, pleasing to You. A life that blesses others, glorifies You, and testifies to the saving work of Jesus and the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit in me, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
Have a victorious day in the Lord!
