Today’s promise is Hebrews 12:11 (AMP):
“For the time being no discipline brings joy, but seems sad and painful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness [right standing with God and a lifestyle and attitude that seeks conformity to God’s will and purpose].
Many people have a negative reaction to the word “discipline,” mistakenly thinking that it is synonymous with punishment. In truth this word is rendered from the Greek word “paideia,” which refers to the whole training and education of an individual for the purpose of cultivating the mind and morals as well as the body. And, yes, this training includes correction involving “the evils with which God visits men for their amendment” (Thayer).
It is only when we acknowledge God’s sovereignty in our lives that we can truly rejoice in all things, fully giving ourselves over to our loving Father’s wisdom and purpose for our lives. Knowing beyond a doubt that He will equip us with everything we need to overcome adversity and fulfill His purpose for us, growing to spiritual maturity and bringing His Kingdom to earth. The peace that passes all understanding can only be found in the sovereignty of God.
Heavenly Father, You alone hold the world in Your hand. Everything in Heaven and earth answers to You. Let me soar on the wings of Your sovereignty, in Jesus’ name, and reach heights I never imagined possible! All to Your glory! Amen!
Have a victorious day in the Lord!
