Blessings!
Today’s Promise is 2 Chronicles 7:14 NKJV:
“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
Devotion:
I have heard this verse quoted often, and I have seen various organizations amass large gatherings to pray for their nations. But prayer is only part of this promise. God is not talking about a one-time fix-all, here, He’s talking about a heart change. He’s talking about a people who will walk humbly before Him consistently, pray consistently, seek Him consistently … and turn from their wicked ways. Not for a day, but for good. There is no mystery about what God calls wicked, it’s written clearly in His Word. But some believe that God’s grace entitles them to certain “indulgences.” Nothing could be further from the truth. It isn’t flowery prayers or huge gatherings that touch God’s heart. It’s obedience. That is our acknowledgement of and testimony to His sovereignty and power over sin. It is our responsibility to know God’s heart, what pleases Him and what grieves Him. Then, with the help of the Holy Spirit, it is our responsibility to live to please Him. When God’s people understand this and walk in it, God will move in a powerful way.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, You are rich in mercy and love. I need You to move powerfully in the territory You have given me, and in my nation. I humbly ask You, Lord, to forgive my sins. Cleanse my hands, purify my heart, and help me to walk in faith and obedience. I repent for the sins of my nation. They are great and grievous. Please, move on our behalf, changing hearts and revealing Your glory. Not because we deserve it, but for Your Name’s sake. Please, forgive our sins and heal our land, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Have a victorious day in the Lord!
