Blessings!
Today’s Promise is Job 14:7 NKJV:
“For there is hope for a tree,
If it is cut down, that it will sprout again,
And that its tender shoots will not cease.”
Devotion:
My yard is a living testimony to this verse. No matter how many times I cut saplings down, they always come back stronger than ever. While this isn’t an ideal situation for my yard, I take great comfort in this promise for my life. Jesus came that we might become “trees of righteousness,” but this cannot happen without getting rid of old wood, a trunk that has grown crooked or begun to rot at the center. Yet, even if I am cut down to the ground, I can trust that if my energy is concentrated in Him, He will cause me to spring forth with new life, growing straight, and tall, and strong. When our lives are in Christ, we can trust completely in our Master Gardener, and rejoice in the pruning.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I surrender to You, the Author and Finisher of my faith. Help me trust in You, in Jesus’ name, as You continue to prune me into a tree of righteousness. Amen.
Have a victorious day in the Lord!
