Promise of the Day: Shepherd or Thief?

Shepherd or Thief?

Blessings!

Today’s Promise is John 10:2, 3 NKJV:

But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.”

Shepherd or Thief?

Devotion:

There are so many people out there today claiming to have received revelation from God. They write books, hold conferences, and go on television shows to promote their message and win converts. With our eternal souls hanging in the balance, it’s vital that we learn who to listen to and who to ignore. But how do we do this? Jesus said that He is the door, but many come claiming His authority. They quote the Bible readily, and might even perform miracles. They can be very convincing.

The key is the doorkeeper. He is the Holy Spirit, and only through intimacy with Him can we develop the discernment of spirits, people, and the Word, that is vital for our spiritual growth and safety. The Spirit gives freely to those who seek Him. The question is, is your eternal destiny worth the time and effort that requires?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit. I know He is the source of all truth, and I don’t want to take Him for granted any longer. I purpose and choose this day to make Him my first appointment every day, knowing that He will set the course and tone for everything that follows. Teach me to know Your voice, Lord, in Jesus’ name, that I might never be fooled by a counterfeit. Amen!

Have a victorious day in the Lord!
