Promise of the Day: The Company You Keep

Just Wait

Blessings!

Today’s Promise is Proverbs 13:20 NKJV:

He who walks with wise men will be wise,
But the companion of fools will be destroyed.”

Just Wait

Devotion:

My ten-year-old daughter warned me against voting for a certain candidate one evening following a visit by a campaigner. I let her know that the man who came to the door wasn’t the actual candidate, and she replied,

“Oh, I know that. But I don’t have to meet the candidate to know what kind of man he is. I can tell by the people who follow him—and I would not vote for that man.”

Wow. I’d never looked at it that way before, but now I had to wonder … What do the words and actions of those who follow me, in ministry, business, social circles, or my family, tell others about my character?

And just as importantly, what do my words and actions tell others about those I follow? My husband? Pastor? Friends?—My God?

Who are you keeping company with?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, please forgive me for any and all times my thoughtless words or selfish actions caused anyone to turn away from You. Holy Spirit, make me mindful of my responsibility as an ambassador of Your Kingdom, in Jesus’ name. Let Your love be my only motivation, that You may be glorified. Amen.

Have a victorious day in the Lord!
