Promise of the Day: The Fruit You Grow

The Fruit You Grow

Blessings!

Today’s Promise is 1 John 2:29 NKJV:

“If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of Him.”

The Fruit You Grow

Devotion:

I once planted a hardy almond tree. I nursed it along for two years before fruit began to form. Unfortunately, the more the fruit developed, the more it resembled apricots… The tag on the tree read, “Hardy Almond,” the invoice that came with the tree read “Hardy Almond”… but it was not producing almonds, it was producing apricots. As much as I wanted to believe otherwise, I had to come to grips with the fact that I did not have an almond tree.

Like trees, we are known by our fruit, not the labels we wear–or the church we attend. If we live lives of love, compassion, and joy, we can be sure we are remaining in Jesus Christ, and are being transformed by His DNA. If our lives are producing anything other than the fruits of righteousness…we need to contact customer service, the Holy Spirit, and refer back the “care and maintenance guide,” which is God’s Word. Happily, support is available for us 24/7.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me the ability to produce good fruit. Help me to remain in You, Lord,  in Jesus’ name, that my yields may increase, and that I not cause anyone to doubt Your transforming power. Amen.

Have a victorious day in the Lord!
