Today’s Promise is 1 Corinthians 2:12 CJB:
“Now we have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit of God, so that we might understand the things God has so freely given us.”
Devotion:
I had an English professor in college who loved to talk about how he had read the entire Bible and gotten nothing more from it than an interesting story. Even then I felt sorry for him. Verse 11 reminds us that no one can know who we truly are except our spirit, and those we choose to share it with. Just so with God. No one really knows Him except His Spirit. Until we receive God’s Spirit, who is faithful to reveal the Father to us, the Bible is just another book. It is His Spirit that makes His Word live and breathe. Have you been filled with God’s Spirit?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You so much for sending Your Spirit to breathe life into Your Word. Thank You that through Him, I can know more of Your beauty and majesty each day, and learn who I am in You. Amen!
