Promise of the Day: Let it Flow

Moon Gazing

Blessings!

Today’s Promise is 2 Kings 4:5, 6 CJB:

“So she left him and shut the door on herself and her sons. They brought her the containers while she poured. When the containers were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another container”; but he answered, “There isn’t another container.” Then the oil stopped flowing.

Devotion:

This widow was about to lose everything she had. One thing she did have was oil. Worldly wisdom would say, hold on to what you have. But Elisha instructed her to pour it out. The widow chose to trust God’s servant instead of worldly wisdom, and, as long as empty vessels were available, the oil never ceased to flow. As a result, the widow and her sons were freed from their debt and had all they needed to live. So it is with the anointing of the Holy Spirit. It is the pouring out into empty vessels that keeps the flow going. Not as a public show, but as an act of faith and obedience. When we shift the focus from our own need to the needs of others, our Father will supply our every need, and the vessels we pour into will then be in a position to pour into other empty vessels. God’s economy cannot be beat. Who can you pour into today?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, You know my every need better than I do. Open my eyes to the needs of others, in Jesus’ name, that I may pour Your Spirit into them, and trust in You to supply my every need. Amen.

Have a victorious day in the Lord!
