Promise of the Day: Eating Crow

Blessings!

Today’s Promise is 1 Peter 3:9 NIV:

“Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.”

Devotion:

Praise God that we have been given His Spirit to override our knee-jerk reaction of pride! It is never pleasing to the Lord when His kids treat others unkindly–even those who really have it coming. After eating my share of crow, I’ve learned it’s best when faced with insult or cruelty, to stop, take a breath, and choose who will be my Master in that situation. Amazingly, when I’ve chosen the Holy Spirit, I’ve never had to say I’m sorry. I much prefer the flavor of grace over crow. Who will be your master today?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, You know the state of my self-esteem. You also know that pride has caused me nothing but grief. I was made in Your likeness, and it is You whom I should esteem above all else. Help me humble myself in Your eyes, Lord, in Jesus’ name. Give me grace to forgive those who try to bring me down, and to trust You to lift me up in Your good time. Amen.

Have a victorious day in the Lord!
