Blessings!
Today’s Promise is 1 John 2:10 CJB:
“The person who keeps loving his brother remains in the light, and there is nothing in him that could make him trip.”
Devotion:
Consider the nature of light. If you light a candle in a dark room, the room can no longer be dark. Light drives out darkness, but darkness can never extinguish light. And where there is light, there is vision to see and avoid obstacles. Loving one another is the result of abiding in Christ, not something we do in order to get there. It is by remaining in His Light that we are able to see our brothers and sisters through the eyes of grace. This may not make it easier to keep loving them, we must still make that choice, and choosing not to love will most certainly cause the Light to depart. But God’s perfect Light also illuminates our view of ourselves, so, when we look into a mirror, we see an object of God’s grace as well. When we can love ourselves as Christ loves us, grace becomes an expression of who we are, igniting the light in others. And, the more lights we ignite in love, the brighter we will shine!
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help me remain in Your Light, seeing others through Your eyes of love and grace. Make me Your love light, in Jesus’ name, drawing others near to You and spreading Your Light throughout this dark world. Amen.
Have a victorious day in the Lord!
Rebecca
