Promise of the Day: Being a Friend of Christ

Blessings!

Today’s Promise is John 15:14 NKJV:

“You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.”

Devotion:

Jesus came first and foremost to restore relationship between the Father and His creation. To restore the lines of communication, that we might be more than a people who follow rules. He sent the Holy Spirit to teach us how to access those lines, that we might know Him, and in knowing Him, love Him. That is when our obedience transforms from an act of fear or self-righteousness, to an act of love, a desire to please the One who gave His all to save us. Our love and gratitude for Christ move us to obedience. Not because the Torah is written in a Book. But because He lives in our Hearts.

Friendships take time to grow, and there’s no better use of our time than learning to wait on the Lord. Learning to be His friend.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I want to know You more each day. I want to be Your friend, to love as You love, speak as You speak, and do as You do. Help me make knowing You the most important thing in my life, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Have a victorious day in the Lord!
