Blessings!
Today’s Promise is John 15:11 CJB:
“I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.”
Devotion:
Have you ever noticed that your joy comes and goes? That it is greatly influenced if not dictated by circumstances, or forces outside of yourself? Jesus tells us in the previous verses that He has shown us the same love the Father showed Him. And that the way to remain in that perfect love is to obey His commands. Remaining in the flow of His perfect love allows us to be filled with His perfect joy. A joy that comes from the inside, born of the knowledge of and confidence in who God is. It is not affected by world events or people, and it doesn’t come and go, because it is complete. In fact on our own, our joy can never be complete, regardless of how we may try. It is Jesus who completes us, not the pleasures of the flesh. And seeking Him, we will surely find Him. And our joy will be complete.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, the pleasures of this world may bring joy for a moment, but that is not enough for me. Help me to seek You above all else, in Jesus’ name, and obey Your every command, that I may remain in Your love and my joy may be complete. Amen.
Have a victorious day in the Lord!
