Promise of the Day: Dwelling on the Past

Walk the Walk

Blessings!

Today’s Promise is Isaiah 46:9-10 NKJV:

“Remember the former things of old,
For I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is none like Me,
Declaring the end from the beginning,
And from ancient times things that are not yet done,
Saying, ‘My counsel shall stand,
And I will do all My pleasure’”

Devotion:

I can’t remember how many times I’ve been told not to dwell on the past. Truly, dwelling on a past filled with failures and disappointments will bring discouragement more often than hope. But we do have a past we can dwell on that is filled with promise and hope. God’s past. From our creation, God has declared His plans and intentions. “Plans to give you a future and hope” (Jer. 29:11). God’s past contains no failures. Not even one. He does what He says He will do–every time–and He never goes back on His Word. So, when the enemy keeps dragging up your past failings, just remind him of your Father’s spotless track record. He’s got you covered, and that’s all that matters now. Whose past are you dwelling on?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your love, so great and so strong that You would cover me with the righteousness of Your Son, Jesus. Anoint my ears, Lord, that I might tune out the voice of the enemy, trying to convince me that I’ll never be “good enough.” Let me only hear Your voice, reminding me who I am in You, in Jesus’ name. Amen!

Have a victorious day in the Lord!
