Today’s Promise is Revelation 1:18 NKJV:
“I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.”
Devotion:
No other “deity” professed by man can make that claim. This is why Jesus is the only way to Heaven.
I love that before Jesus makes this introduction to John (who had passed out and been revived by Him), He tells him, “Do not be afraid.” Jesus has defeated Satan and all his angels, and has been given all authority over creation. Not even death and hell can stand in His way. Yet, to His faithful servant, the one who loved Him so dearly on earth, He says, “Do not be afraid.”
The same power and authority that strikes fear into the hearts of Jesus’ enemies is meant to comfort and strengthen those who love Him. Imagine a God who uses His power not to enslave His people, but to set them free and empower them. That’s Jesus. Your Jesus.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your great love! Thank You for redeeming my life from the pit, and restoring all that the enemy has stolen from me! Teach me to walk in Your ways, in Jesus’ name, that my life would be lived in worship of You, bringing You glory and making the most of what You have done for me. Amen.
