Promise of the Day: Rock Bottom

Blessings!

Today’s Promise is Hosea 6:1-2 NKJV:

“Come, and let us return to the Lord;
For He has torn, but He will heal us;
He has stricken, but He will bind us up.
After two days He will revive us;
On the third day He will raise us up,
That we may live in His sight.”

Devotion:

The book of Hosea is all about the infidelity of God’s people, running after false gods because they didn’t like the true God’s terms of service or performance. Earlier in Hosea, God says the leaders of His people are like men who remove landmarks. Does that sound familiar? It should, because that is exactly what many church leaders are doing today. Exchanging God’s laws for what is good in the eyes of men. Calling good evil, and evil good. Just as He did in Hosea’s day, our unchanging God has had about all He can stand. And, just as he took everything away from His people back then and “cut them up,” so will He do again. He will show His people what rock bottom looks like. Not just for the sake of His anger, but to show us once more that He and He alone gives and takes away. There is no other. And, just as God prophesied in these verses, those who recognize Him as the one true God, repent, and seek Him with all their hearts, will be healed and restored to His favor. This is what He wants for all His children. Everything He does is to this end. But, unless there are people willing, as Hosea, to preach the truth, some may never get to experience that blessing.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, blessed is Your Name above all names. Saturate me with Your Spirit, Lord, in Jesus’ name, that I may speak Your truth boldly, releasing Your sanctifying fire, that all who hear may humble themselves before You and be saved. Amen.

Have a victorious day in the Lord!
