Promise of the Day: Shining in the Darkness

All Light

Blessings!

Today’s Promise is Luke 1:78-79 CJB:

through our God’s most tender mercy,
which causes the Sunrise to visit us from Heaven,
to shine on those in darkness, living in the shadow of death,
and to guide our feet into the paths of peace.”

Shining in the Darkness

Devotion:

This was part of the prophecy spoken over John the Baptist at his birth. And yet, it continues to live on, today. It is still God’s most tender mercy that causes His Holy Spirit, not only to visit us from Heaven, but to live in us. It is His Holy Spirit who shines in us and through us, illuminating the darkness of the world. This is a blessing to those who receive the Light, but to those who love the darkness, it is a hateful, bigoted, judgmental thing. That is why the world villainizes Christians. Jesus told us it would be this way, so it shouldn’t surprise or even discourage us. In fact, this is all the more reason to remain in Christ. His Spirit of Peace keeps us grounded when all the world rages against us. By guiding us along the paths of peace, He helps us act in love instead of reacting in offense. He keeps us from becoming the world.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Your mercies are new every morning. Thank You for causing the Sonrise to fill me from Heaven, to shine through me into the darkness. Guide me into the path of peace to those who are searching for Your Light that they may find Life, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Have a victorious day in the Lord!
