Promise of the Day: Subjects of the King

Chosen to Dwell

Blessings!

Today’s Promise is 1 Kings 2:4 NKJV:

“If your sons take heed to their way, to walk before Me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul,’ He said, ‘you shall not lack a man on the throne of Israel.”

Subjects of the King

Devotion:

The role of a king is to protect his subjects from hostile invaders by way of his army, from each other by means of righteous judgment, and to see that his subjects have all they need to prosper. Unfortunately, the kings of earth have fallen sadly short of this job description. Some to the ruin of their kingdoms. But those who are of the Kingdom of God have a far superior King, who more than fulfills the duties of His station. He is able to do this because, unlike earthly kings, our King esteemed the lives of His people above His own. Our King sits forever on the throne of our hearts to protect, provide for, and bless us as long as we remain within His Kingdom, walking before Him in truth with all our hearts and souls. And as we do so, His Kingdom will grow as He expands our boundaries according to our faithfulness and obedience. Unlike the oppression of earthly kings, there is only freedom, liberty, and blessing to those who serve the King of Kings!

Are you reigning over the territory your King has entrusted to you?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, You have proven Yourself time and time again to be the greatest King to ever reign. You are good. You are Holy. You are just. The very thought of who You are makes my heart take wing. And, when I think that You show such extravagant love towards a sinner like me, it is too much for me to take in. If I can ask one thing of You, it is that You grant me more of You, dear Lord, that I may be able to love others with such extravagance that they may know You and love You as I do, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Have a victorious day in the Lord!
