Promise of the Day: Broken for Perfection

Blessings!

Today’s Promise is James 1:2-4 NKJV:

“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.”

Devotion:

In order for muscle to grow, it must first be broken down. This is what happens as a result of strenuous work or exercise. It is in healing, or recovery, that the body forms more muscle to accommodate the higher levels of strength and endurance required of it. Similarly, our immune systems are strengthened by being attacked by viruses and bacteria. In other words, by sickness. Even in nature, a tree grows stronger and straighter when it is pruned. So, why would a God who commands us to grow in our faith not put that faith to the test, giving us opportunities to grow and strengthen it? Especially, when it is impossible to please Him without faith? God doesn’t put trials in our lives to watch us fail, but to draw us closer to Him as we learn that with Him nothing will be impossible. This is why He commands us to give thanks in ALL things, because all things do work together for good for those who love Him! Let us rejoice with one another in our trials, that our mighty God has His heart set on us!

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me so much that You push me to become the person You created me to be. That I draw me closer to You in every trial, building my faith muscle as I trust in Your sovereignty. I believe nothing is impossible with You, Father. Help me walk in that truth, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Have a victorious day in the Lord!
