Promise of the Day: The Out

Blessings!

Today’s Promise is 1 Corinthians 10:13 NKJV:

“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”

Devotion:

Jesus died to give us the power to say No to the flesh, and God always provides an alternate route. But the choice is still ours to make. We tend to think of things like cheating on a spouse, other sexual immorality, or indulging an addiction when we talk about temptation. But lashing out at someone in frustration, not telling the whole truth, talking negatively about someone behind their back, and even withholding praise out of envy are just as evil in God’s eyes. The first step in overcoming any temptation is repentance. Then we can ask the Lord to give us an attitude adjustment, and then–here’s the important part–we can act on that attitude adjustment. Take it from someone who knows, this may sound tough, but it’s much easier to repent to God before hurting someone, than to repent to that someone after the damage has been done.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for always making a way for me to choose You over my flesh. I know that every time I choose You, I’m being transformed into Your image from glory to glory. Help me be more like You, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Have a victorious day in the Lord!
