Promise of the Day: Wisdom to the Wise

Blessings!

Today’s Promise is Daniel 1:20-22 NKJV:

“Blessed be the name of God forever and ever,
For wisdom and might are His.
And He changes the times and the seasons;
He removes kings and raises up kings;
He gives wisdom to the wise
And knowledge to those who have understanding.
He reveals deep and secret things;
He knows what is in the darkness,
And light dwells with Him.”

Devotion:

Daniel offered this prayer of worship after God gave him the dream of Nebuchadnezzar and its interpretation . It may seem at first glance that Daniel had this revelation of God’s sovereignty because God gave him the answer. In fact, it was the other way around. It was because Daniel believed God was sovereign that God released this knowledge to him. That is why Daniel could say God gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.

The wise know God is sovereign and worship Him, with all humility. Those with understanding know they don’t have all the answers, but God does. So, they can ask Him anything in faith. Even after being ripped from his homeland and forced to serve a foreign king, Daniel still believed. When we can walk in that level of faith, God will not withhold wisdom and knowledge from us. The deep and secret things will be ours to know.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I believe in You! I believe that You are sovereign above all things. I ask You, Lord, in Jesus’ name, to grant me even greater faith. That You, the source of all knowledge and wisdom would be the first one I call on when I need wisdom and understanding. Then, Lord, grant me the grace to wait on You in faith. Knowing You will answer. Amen.

Have a victorious day in the Lord!
